My canvases are a showcase of all that I find interesting and thought provoking. The paintings can be beautiful or repelling depending on one's point of view. I tend to favor subjects that project an innate beauty however obscure that beauty may be. Some paintings are straight forward as in a still life of flowers but other paintings may hide their beauty and leave it up to the Viewer to find the beauty. It's all in the "eye of the beholder" but it is the Artist's job to communicate honestly culminating in an artwork that causes the Viewer to pause and linger their gaze.

About

My career as an Interior Designer has trained me to view rooms in their entirety, a discipline which has taught me to visually take in all that is in front of me including but not limited to objects, people, structures, architecture, textures and forms and translate all of that into one vision. I've learned to apply that discipline to all that happens to land in my visual field and with a discerning eye, create an image worthy scene worth preserving on canvas. Inspiration is all around.

Bold colors and unique shapes

Painting is an exercise which requires concentration and expression and constant evaluation. The painting evolves on its own most of the time but has it's moments of requiring the Artist to conform to strict convention when painting realistic representation.
I also love to experiment with abstract art, using bold colors and unique shapes to create interesting and thought-provoking compositions.
Still life paintings are a great vehicle to study the beauty of forms and color and how they relate to each other.
Portrait painting requires all of the Artist's abilities to capture realism, personality ane spirit of the sitter.
The glint in the eye and the upward or downward tilt of the eye or lips can hint to the unique characteristic of the person's personality.
